Braga, known as the “Portuguese Rome” for its remarkable concentration of religious architecture, is both one of the youngest cities in Europe and one of the oldest Christian cities in the world. Bom Jesus do Monte, is a sanctuary famous for its Baroque staircase and church at the top, combining faith, art, and stunning views. Nossa Senhora do Sameiro, is a Marian sanctuary famous for its neo-baroque church, large statue of the Virgin Mary, and panoramic views from the top of Monte Sameiro. It is a major pilgrimage site and a place of devotion and reflection. Guimarães, known as the birthplace of the Portuguese nation, boasts one of the most beautiful and best-preserved medieval towns in the world.
